Winner Announced

We are delighted to announce the winner of the Envision Young Thinkers Essay Competition 2025.

Congratulations to Celina Mann, whose essay “Is Fairness About Equality, or About Justice?” was selected as the winning entry.

Celina’s essay impressed the judges with its clarity of thought, originality, and engagement with key philosophical ideas. She explored whether fairness is best understood as equality or justice, drawing on thinkers from Aristotle to John Rawls and Amartya Sen. Her essay argued that fairness is ultimately about justice — but a justice that incorporates equality of respect and responds to human diversity.

Celina will receive a £50 prize and a certificate of achievement in recognition of her success.

Thank you to all who entered the competition. We look forward to running the prize again next year.
